Near the Island is an outcrop with a stone plaque attached inscribed Gwnhingaer Fawr (just in the photo).
The Lava here is one of best exposures of Pillow lava to be seen.
The pillow lavas are globally significant as some of the oldest and best preserved ,
including finely crystalline chilled margins and cracked and pitted cooling surfaces.
