The Castle partially obscured by a ship - the BRITAIN - A former Irish Lightship (1910-66).
Caernarfon Castle was built (1283-1330) by Edward I of England (1272-1307) to help, along with
Harlech , Conwy and Beaumaris Castles control the newly conquered area.
The Castle was the core of a medieval walled town at the southern end of the Menai Straits
on the bank of the Afon Seiont.
